Day of the Fjord at the Viking Museum Ladby
Sunday, September 10
For Fjord Day, we celebrate the Ladby King’s own fjord – Kerteminde Fjord – with lots of fun activities that the Vikings did at the water’s edge. As a special treat, there is free admission and free activities for all ages.
The volunteers from the Viking ship Ladby Dragon will be present at the water’s edge and invite you on board the ship for a chat about ships and seafaring in the Viking Age.
Meet the costumed ladies in the tents by the water and see and hear about the Viking Age’s warp and weave.
The shooting range is open with archery, spear throwing and stone throwing as in the Viking Age. At the water’s edge, the very youngest can sail with toy versions of the Ladby ship, while older children can try setting sail or making Viking ropes, and children and adults can challenge each other to a Viking battle with shields and swords.
See the rest of the museum – the Ladby King’s tomb, the construction site with the Ladby King’s farm, exhibitions with local finds from the Viking Age and two treasure hunts for children inside and out.
Join us for a fun day with the Vikings at the water’s edge with lots of experiences for young and old – and a great Viking atmosphere.
