The Ladby King’s Warrior Weekend 25-26 September.
Finally – after a 2-year corona break – the Viking Museum Ladby is once again hosting the Ladby King’s Warrior Weekend – an experience for both old and young.
The weekend of 25-26 September, the museum has gathered almost 100 fighting Vikings at the museum to showcase the wars and battles of the Viking Age. The Viking King, who was buried in the Ladby Ship 1000 years ago, was apparently a warrior experienced in battle himself. As grave goods, the king received a quiver full of arrows, a shield, an axe, and likely a sword. During the Warrior Weekend of the Ladby King, the guests of the museum can therefore experience both warrior tours, family activities and combat demonstrations.
The museum is therefore populated by Viking warriors from all over Denmark, who meet for a long-awaited combat training.
In collaboration with the Viking battle group “Palnatokes Free Men” the audience is welcomed to a proper Viking battle with swords, spears and axes. In addition, you can get really close to the combat training behind the Vikings’ martial art.
In addition to the great Viking battle at 12.30 pm (both Saturday and Sunday), the warriors will continuously train their martial art through various exercises, competitions and weapons games.
At the same time, the museum’s guests – old and young – can try their hand at archery and spear throwing. It will also be possible to hear more about the Vikings’ weapons in the museum’s war mediation stand – and for the particularly brave, of course, to try their hand at holding one of the terrible weapons.
There is standard entrance to the museum – children’s are, as always, for free.
Program (both Saturday and Sunday):
10 am The museum opens and the Viking warriors start their training. 10 am – 4 pm Spear throwing and archery (both activities are for free) 11-12-30 pm & 1.30-3.30 pm The war mediation stand is open – stories about the Vikings’ weapons and martial art. 11.30 am Free tour with the theme “the Ladby King as a warrior”. 12.30 pm The great Viking battle.
